The above pictures where taken by Kris and me in an abandoned school in a village nearby. In the last decades almost all the schools in Bulgarian villages closed down. Even Veliko Tarnovo, that gets visited by more then 2 Million mostly international tourists and is proud to be the former capital of the Balkans, cannot keep their schools open during the winter because they are lacking money for the heating.
